1000 series Firebox insert
- In stock
The 1000 Series Firebox insert fits onto the coal grate inside the side firebox. With this you can use more lump charcoal for longer burns. This design channels the bulk of the heat directly into the cooking chamber. Secondary heat goes into the air gap between the insert and firebox wall and is also channeled into the cooking chamber.

Chris' notes: I don't know why we didn't think of this design sooner. When we use it we have the lower damper open more to utilize the primary and secondary heat generated and regulate the heat in the cooking chamber using the upper damper. You might come up with your own heat regulation ideas and change it up with the seasons. Once we had the design built and installed in the shop grill we never wanted to remove it. I put one in my home grill. Also a reminder to only use lump charcoal and/or whole logs or chunk wood. The binder added in charcoal briquettes makes getting good airflow in a firebox difficult.
